We Just Earned Our Gold Seal of Transparency from Candid
We’re proud to share that Small Magic Foundation has earned a Gold Seal of Transparency on Candid, the world’s leading source of nonprofit information.
If you’re not familiar with Candid, here’s why this matters: Candid (formerly GuideStar) is where donors, funders, and grantmakers go to vet nonprofits before they give. A Gold Seal isn’t handed out automatically. It means we’ve gone above and beyond the basics, sharing detailed information about our mission, our programs, our goals, our strategies, and how we measure impact, all in one place, for anyone to see.
Why we did this
At Small Magic Foundation, we ask young people to be transparent and accountable with real budgets and real responsibility through the M.A.G.I.C. Grant program. It only made sense that we hold ourselves to that same standard.
Earning this seal meant taking a hard look at how we talk about our own work. What are we actually trying to solve in the Tampa Bay area? What’s our theory of change? How do we know the program is working? Answering those questions clearly, and publicly, isn’t just good practice. It’s a promise to our donors, our community partners, and the teens we serve that we’re exactly who we say we are.
What this means for you
If you’re a donor or potential partner, the Gold Seal means you can look up Small Magic Foundation on Candid and see, in detail, what we do and why. No guesswork required.
If you’re a young person or a community partner thinking about applying for a M.A.G.I.C. Grant, it means the organization behind that funding is committed to doing this the right way, out in the open.
We’re grateful for every supporter who’s helped us get to this point, and we’re just getting started.
